Assoc. Prof Filiz Topaloğlu Demir who stated that stem cell treatment which has given successful results in the treatment of many diseases in recent years is also a reliable method for alopecia, added to her statement: “3 pieces of skin obtained from the region behind the ear, containing hair follicles is fragmented into pieces smaller than 50 microns with a special device. It is transformed into a solution and injected in the areas where alopecia is present. With this procedure, the thin and damaged hair is recovered, natural hair growth is supported and alopecia is controlled.”

Assoc. Prof Filiz Topaloğlu Demir from the Dermatology Department of Medipol Mega University Hospital, made important statements regarding stem cell treatment which is one of the most successful methods applied against alopecia. Assoc Prof Topaloğlu Demir, spoke about the causes of alopecia saying: “Loss of hair or absence of hair in scalp or any region of the body containing hair is described as alopecia. Losing 50-150 hairs daily is known to be normal. A higher number of hair loss is pathological although this count may vary with the changing of the seasons. Hereditary factors, hormonal disorders, puberty, pregnancy, menopause, thyroid and anemia in particular, systemic diseases, previous surgeries, febrile diseases, drugs, mineral deficiencies such as vitamin B12 and D, folic acid, biotin, zinc, iron, selenium, stress, diets with strict protein-calorie restriction and skin diseases of the scalp can cause temporary or permanent hair loss. Hair loss can be classified in two main groups which are common type hair loss and localized hair loss, in other words; hair loss in a specific region and area. One of the most common causes of localized hair loss is androgenetic alopecia (male pattern) hair loss.”

It Can Also Be Used For Anti-Aging

Assoc. Prof Topaloğlu Demir who underlined the benefits of stem cell treatment in alopecia cases besides many other diseases continued her words as follows: Stem cell treatment is a treatment method using stem cells or cells originating from stem cells to repair or regenerate damaged cells or tissues of the patient. In stem cell application, the patient’s own cells are used in tissue regeneration after undergoing a process with a special device. The suspension of patient’s own (autologous) cells is injected. It is used for reviving, anti-aging and strengthening of cells on the face, around the eyes, neck, lower neck and hand regions and removing marks on the skin, and especially for andogenetic alopecia and other hair loss problems.

The Most Important Advantage: Procedure Performed In One Session

Assoc Prof Topaloğlu Demir, explained the stem cell treatment applied in hair loss cases as follows: 3 pieces of skin of 3mm in diameter obtained from behind the ear and containing hair follicles are fragmented into pieces smaller than 50 microns with a special device. They are transformed into a solution, and injected in the scalp areas where alopecia is present. The most important advantage of this procedure is that it can be completed in one session and it is a treatment method that does not require hospitalization. The duration of the procedure is approx 1 hour. It takes 3-6 months to see the results of the application. With this procedure, the weak and old hair foliicles are stimulated and strengthened, the thin and damaged hair is recovered, natural hair growth is supported and alopecia is controlled. The effectiveness of the treatment varies according to the patient and the condition of the hair, however the scientific research has shown the effectiveness of stem cell treatment. Repeated applications and combination with other treatments may increase the effectiveness of the treatment.

You Can Apply In the Early Period of Hair Loss

Assoc Prof Topaloğlu Demir, continued her evaluations as follows: It is used in the treatment of male and female patients with androgenetic alopecia, known as male pattern hair loss. It should be applied in the early periods before permanent hair loss develops. It is not effective in patients who are in the late stages of alopecia and whose hair follicles are completely lost. It can be applied to anyone who needs it, except for cancer patients and patients with active infections. After the procedure, it will be sufficient to avoid water contact with the application for 24 hours and to apply a wound dressing to the area where the skin piece was obtained from, in line with the recommendation of your physician.
